October Family Newsletter 2018

Principal's Report
Hello School Family!
Welcome to the new Video Newsletter!  Each grade has a story along with our special classes (Art, Music, PE and Library).  I hope you watch them all but it's up to you to pick and choose wich areas meet your needs.  The kids and I enjoyed telling you about the great things happening in our school this past month.

At the bottom of the form you will see some traditional informational items from Mrs. Tennessen.  Don't forget about those.

As always if you have questions feel free to contact me at 766-6129 or by email at kortensk@kaukaunasd.org.  You can also see almost daily posts about our school by following me on Twitter @kortensk or our school Facebook Page.

Lambeau Field Report
Check out this short video to learn more about our Lambeau Field booth from parents who have worked it.  This is our biggest fundraiser of the year and it is a lot of fun for all who have worked a game or event.  We could really use more support especially later in the season.  If every family worked one 8 hour shift we would not need to do any other fundraisers to support the amazing programs we have in our school that are not funded by district money such as Conscious Discipline or any additional technology purchases.  CLICK HERE to see the available games and sign up.

The Golf Outing Was a Huge Success!

Thank you to the 43 parents and friends of Park Community Charter School who participated in our annual golf outing on September 15th.  The event was our best ever and fund raised at this event will be used to support our Conscious Discipline training and supplies this school year.  It's never too early to be thinking about next year.  We had great weather and a lot of fun for everyone!  Special thanks to Jonathon Gillis, Jesse Michalski, Andy Benson, Ellen Tennessen and Kevin Doszak for making this event possible.

Here are just a few of our teams and helpers that made this event a success!

News from the We Care Center and our School Nurse, Mrs. Sundelius

Good vision is very important for a child’s learning.  It has been estimated that as much as 80% of the learning a child does occurs through their eyes; reading, writing, chalkboard work and computer use are among the visual tasks that your child may perform daily. When a child’s vision is not functioning properly, their education and other activities such as sports can suffer.

Because vision may change frequently during the early elementary school years, regular eye and vision care is important. The Kaukauna School District has partnered with the local Lioness Club to do vision screenings for all children in preschool, kindergarten, grade 2 and 4.  If your child does not pass this screening you will receive a letter from the school nurse asking that you follow up with an eye care specialist to have your child’s vision further assessed.  If you are not able to afford a visit to an eye care specialist, please contact the school nurse to discuss options for assistance in obtaining the needed care.  Additionally if you have concerns for your child vision at any time please let the nurse know and a routine screening can be done at school.
